Zazenso (which bares the interesting name of skunk cabbage in English) from the Acacea family (Symplocarpus subfamily) is a perennial plant that thrives in swampy areas within the mountains.
The wild specimens found in Takemori are the southernmost occurrences of these plants on Japan's main island of Honshu, and have been designated among Yamanashi Prefecture's natural assets.

Zazen means Zen mediation in Japanese, and the plants are so named for their resemblance to a monk in meditation beneath a hood.
